Meakusma HQ is buzzing with the prep for the 2026 Meakusma Festival. From September 3rd to 6th, the festival will take over the center of Eupen, Belgium, with live performances, DJ sets, installations, workshops, radio shows, and more. The Alter Schlachthof will be the main venue of the festival, as per usual. Many of the venues in and around the town of Eupen that we have used in the past will again be used, next to some new ones, of course. The Meakusma Festival is organised by Meakusma and ArsVitha.
 
We have decided to make tickets available already, simply because of the new VAT legislation that will be put into place in Belgium from January 1st, 2026 onward. These new VAT rules, in the case of the Meakusma Festival, mean higher ticket prices, so we are already offering all ticket options now. Tickets bought from January 1st onward are slightly more expensive. We have always believed in transparency, so making tickets available now fits into our ambition to keep the festival as accessible as possible.
 
We believe that our ticket prices are still very moderate, especially considering the number of artists we will book and the number of venues we will use. Running Meakusma is, as many other cultural organizations know, a continuous exercise in frugality and experiment. We are, as always, thrilled with the funding we receive, but our means are not unlimited. The Meakusma team remains small. We do most of everything ourselves, although we consider ourselves lucky with our team of dedicated volunteers. Organising a festival of this scope is very much a labour of love that comes with certain sacrifices. As stated before, we intend to keep it accessible and affordable. If your budget does not allow you to buy a ticket to the festival, there is always the option to become a festival volunteer and earn an entrance ticket (depending on the amount of time you choose to volunteer).
