Jooklo Duo, Bear Bones, Lay Low & Tochter Aus E

On Saturday, May 25th, starting at one o’clock in the afternoon, Jooklo Duo, Bear Bones, Lay Low, and Tochter Aus E will all be performing live in front of the Studio Néau radio container in the Park Loten in Eupen, Belgium.

Making waves all over the world since 2004 with hundreds of charming performances and some truly cult records, Jooklo Duo (Virginia Genta on reeds, flutes, piano, percussion, and David Vanzan on drums) keep spreading their powerful and uniquely vibrant sound, deeply rooted in free jazz avant-garde but heavily influenced by traditional folk music, and at the same time open to extreme sound experiments. They have been championed by Henry Rollins, WFMU radio, The Wire magazine, and more.

Bear Bones, Lay Low is the moniker Belgium-based Ernesto González uses to explore shifting psychedelic moods in electronic sound. Active as a teenager in the Belgian noise underground, González’s music has evolved from spontaneous bedroom noise/drone jams to colorful synthesizer tunes where library-esque vibes meet entrancing rhythms, dubby use of effects, and plenty of freak-outs.

Tochter aus E is a one-person synth-pop band that combines punk, electronica, and kitsch. The band loves cover versions and experiments. Whether it’s the use of church organs, sequencer basses, or the beauty of the spoken word, the sound of squeaky chalk is always around the corner.

The weekend of May 25th and 26th, the Eupen Musik Marathon will take over the streets of Eupen. Swing by Studio Néau first for what will be a bit of a different appetizer.
