KIOSK RADIO x MEAKUSMA

“If eternity had a season, it would be midsummer. Autumn, winter, spring are all change and passage, but at the height of summer, the year stands poised. It’s only a passing moment, but even as it passes, the heart knows it cannot change.”
from Powers by Ursula K. Le Guin

Midsummer or high summer. Climate change diffuses things. Kiosk Radio and Meakusma are thrilled to present a live performance by the incredible HTRK from Melbourne, Australia, their music an ever-deepening take on dub dream, theory, and the vast expanses of the expression of longing and intimacy.
Support comes from Brussels’ trio Super Gum, an experimental art-rock band on a musical path entirely their own. Shorlax & Yeye will play records before and after.

HTRK, the Australian duo of Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang, have an uncanny ability to elevate musical mood to a singular, smoldering supremacy. Their songs are often coded as fantasies, venturing deeper into the heady expanses of dub dream and memory. They make music that channels not just the heaviness and beauty of the world, but also its surreal humor and inexplicable serendipity, cataloging longing, intimacy, and spirit like few others.
They have released their music on labels including Fire, Blast First Petite, Boomkat Editions, and Ghostly International. Since 2021, their own N&J Blueberries imprint has been home for most of their output.

Super Gum are Anatole Damien, Ari Rodriguez, and Gaspard Sicx, evolved from a singer-songwriter/post-rock band in the early 2010s to an instrumental art-rock trio now. From Brussels, they are on a continuous path of musical exploration, touching upon jazz, punk, and pop, blending many influences from Brussels’ diverse scene. Collaged, looped, and overdubbed, open-ended experiment defines Super Gum’s spirit. They have released three albums so far and are currently working on new material.

DJ support comes from morning show hosts and ambient purveyors Ye Ye and Shorlax.
