Lucrecia Dalt

Born in Pereira, Colombia in 1980, and now based in Berlin, Germany, Lucrecia Dalt has seen her profile as musician, sound artist and radio producer develop into high international regard. Her recorded albums – numbering seven in total, since her 2005 debut – encompass the dual worlds of avant-garde and contemporary electronic music, drawing in influences from her academic background as a civil engineer as well as musics and philosophies from across the world.

Dalt’s most recent album – the acclaimed Anticlines, released May 2018 through New York’s RVNG Intl. – was created from analog synthesis, voice, vocoding and sound dynamics among other musical techniques. Described as “a marvelous exploration of mercurial ambient music” by Pitchfork, the record enjoyed success throughout press, radio and retail. Dalt’s live performances in support of the record have yielded bookings in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Poland, including prestigious experimental music festivals attended by worldwide audiences.

In her sound work, Dalt illustrates a philosophical metaphor about existence by creating a complex and haunting narrative, embodying many artistic disciplines with the thought and contextual detail that goes into her work; deeply framed messages are linked to abstract music, to sound design, and to poetic and haunting vocals.

Her sound work has been presented internationally in spaces such as Issue Project Room and Pioneer Works in New York, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, the MAMM museum in Medellín, the Mies van der Rohe pavilion in Barcelona, the New South Walles art gallery in Sydney, among others.
