Scion

Scion is René Löwe from Potsdam and Peter Kuschnereit from Berlin. Both started their experiments in creating electronic music in 1990. Some time later several tracks were finished and ready to release. Therefore René’s and Peter’s mentors Mark and Moritz from Hard Wax/Basic Channel founded a new label called Chain Reaction as a platform to present their friend’s music. Scion’s first release was called “Emerge” and it came out in three versions in 1996. René and Peter also worked on their soloprojects Vainqueur (René) and Substance (Peter). Both artists released solo albums on Chain Reaction in 1997. At the same time many people were interested in having Scion material again, so René and Peter created a live-performance. Scion supposed to be an open concept with experimentation and investigation of chords, grooves and soundstructures. Both combined samples and beatstructures to very soundsphere orientated atmospheric stereo arrangements. It’s background is House/Techno from the early nineties, and was later deeply influenced by Reggae/Dub. Because of this wide and open range of production Scion performs in really different venues such as clubs, festivals and art events.
