Hailing from Jakarta, Bali based Aradea Barandana has been slowly garnering a dedicated following among record lovers the world over. With a taste untamed by genre, his warm sun-infused selections seamlessly glide through disco, rare groove and electronic music of every variety, earning him a reputation as one of the islands leading lights and plaudits from the likes of Gilles Peterson, whom he warmed up for earlier this year.
As a resident at Bali’s most forward thinking music programme Sun Down Circle, a monthly music event at the Potato Head Beach Club, Dea has been integral to the nights continued notoriety and has warmed up for the likes of Jack J, DJ Harvey and Tim Sweeney since its incarnation. This summer sees the collective branch out on a world tour with Dea set to play shows in Hong Kong, Ibiza, Love International in Croatia as well as Gilles Peterson’s World Wide festival in Sete.
A multi instrumentalist musician in his own right, Dea also spearheads the niche Frisbee Records alongside long time friends spAceLex and Albion. The label’s distinctive upbeat sound lends upon various italo, disco and world music elements to create a bright fusion of dance floor records represented in its Heavy Rotation releases. His extensive knowledge of audio engineering is also pushing him to design a bespoke analogue recording studio at Potato Head whilst simultaneously redesigning the in house systems.
