During the mid-nineties, David Kempston aka Clatterbox secured himself a considerable following while recording releases for the seminal UK label Clear. During this period he also appeared on the legendary “Theory of Evolution” compilation on Warp. David went on to produce music in a diversity of styles, under various guises including the solid House sounds of Cartel Productions, the malignant breaks of Darkmode and a collaboration album project with Metamatics on Neo Ouija. The changes during Clatterbox’s 15 year gestation have resulted in a frightening array of hard, angular computer funk. In 2003 David set up his own record label called Z-BOP, released the Solar Phase EP and recently a fantastic 12″ on Andrea Parker’s Touchin Bass.
